Muscat: On behalf of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has announced a new issue of Government Development Bonds. The bonds, valued at RO 80 million with an additional green shoe option not exceeding RO 20 million, will have a maturity period of seven years and a coupon rate of 4.50% per annum.

According to Oman News Agency, the subscription period for these bonds will be from August 16 to August 20, 2026, with the auction scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2026. The bonds will be issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Interest payments on the bonds will be made semiannually on the 25th of August and February each year, continuing until the maturity date on August 25, 2033.

This 84th Government Development Bonds issue is available to all investors, both residents and non-residents of Oman, regardless of nationality. Investors can participate through a competitive bidding process by submitting bids via commercial licensed banks operating in Oman during the subscription period. Those with applications of RO 1 million and above have the option to submit their bids directly to the CBO after endorsement from their banks.

For investors wishing to participate, an MCD Investor Code can be obtained by visiting the Muscat Clearing and Depository Co. (MCD)'s website or through the Oman Stocks application, at least one day before submitting the application to a commercial bank. The prospectus and application forms are accessible through the CBO's and MOF's websites or their social media accounts.

These bonds are direct and unconditional obligations of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the MOF. They can be used as collateral for loans from any local commercial licensed banks and traded at prevailing market rates on the Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX). Bond allotment details will be recorded in the register maintained by the MCD.

To ensure smooth processing of bids, investors are required to provide the same bank account details registered with MCD to facilitate receipt of coupon payments and principal amounts on scheduled dates.
