Newspaper Review: Dailies highlight Israeli forces’ killing of a Palestinian father near Nablus

RAMALLAH, The three Palestinian Arabic-language dailies focused today on yesterday’s fatal shooting by Israeli occupation forces of Mohammad Ali Abu Kafia, 36, a Palestinian father of three, near the village of Jit, to the west of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

Following are the main headlines of the three dailies:

Al-Quds:

– [Israeli occupation forces] kill a Palestinian school counsellor from Bayt Ijza.

– Israeli occupation forces deny access of international activists to the village of Al-Tuwani in Masafer Yatta.

– [Israeli War Minister] Gantz claims: It is impossible to reach a settlement with the Palestinians.

– A tragedy in Tubas: Three little brothers die within a few days.

– Washington warns Lebanon against any move by Hezbollah against Israel.

– The death toll of the tragic shipwreck off Syria has climbed to 94.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida:

– Israeli occupation’s traffic tickets are fatal bullets: Mohammad Abu Kafia, a resident of Bayt Ijza, was shot dead by Israeli occupation forces.

– Arab media professionals and academics: President Abbas’s speech at the UN embarrassed Israel and exposed its crimes to the world.

– Occupation forces deny access of activists to the village of Al-Tuwani in Masafer Yatta…. And also arrest a cancer patient in the village of Kafr Ein.

– 30 Palestinian prisoners are scheduled to go on a hunger strike today in protest of their detention without charge or trial by the Israeli occupation.

– The occupation imposes a lockdown of [border crossings with] the West Bank and Gaza during the Jewish holidays.

– Ambassador Ahmad Al-Dik: 25 Palestinian refugees in Lebanon were on board the boat that shipwrecked a few days ago off the coastal Syrian city of Tartus, of whom six died.

Al-Ayyam:

– Injuries as Israeli occupation forces disperse nonviolent events in Masafer Yatta and Kafr Qaddum.

– Confrontations erupted last night with the Israeli occupation forces in Al-Tour, Silwan, Bayt Ijza and Sebastia.

– The occupation imposes a lockdown of [border crossings with] the West Bank and Gaza during the Jewish holidays.

– The Israeli municipality of occupied Jerusalem lights up the historic wall of Jerusalem with Talmudic pictures and slogans.
