Newspaper Review: Palestinian killed in Israeli raid into village focus of dailies

RAMALLAH, News about the Palestinian teen who was murdered by Israeli gunfire during an Israeli violent military raid into a West Bank village hit the front pages of the three Arabic Palestinian dailies on Sunday.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that thousands of Palestinians participated in the funeral procession of Mohammad Abu Salah, 17, from the village of al-Yamoun, who succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the head by an Israeli gunfire during a majro military raid into Silat al-Harithiya town in Jenin in the occupied West Bank.

They also said that Israeli forces Monday overnight punitively detonated the house of prisoner Mahmoud Ghaleb Jaradat in Silat al-Harithiya town, northwest of Jenin.

Israeli settersl’ violence and assaults were also reported in the papers, which said that Israeli settlers razed agricultural land and uprooted trees in Shufa village, southeast of the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm.

According to the papers, Israeli settlers also vandalized nine Palestinian vehicles in the village of Jinsafut, east of the occupied West Bank city of Qalqilya.

The dailies reported that tension remained high in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem as extreme right-wing Israelis led by fascist Israeli lawmaker Itamar Ben Gvir returned to the Palestinian neighborhood this afternoon, provoking its residents and drawing confrontations, which resulted in four injuries among the Palestinians.

Israeli forces also demolished a Palestinian-owned building while in the construction stage in the occupied West Bank city of al-Bireh, adjacent to Ramallah, as reported in the papers.

The papers reported that a decline was recorded in the number of new Covid-19 cases and deaths in Palestine in the last 24 hours as 3731 new cases and 13 deaths were reported.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said that Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh met with his Libyan counterpart, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, in the Libyan capital Tripoli and briefed him on the latest political developments in Palestine, particularly the racist and oppressive Israeli measures against the Palestinian people.
