News about the Palestinian worker who was murdered in cold blood by the Israeli occupation forces yesterday in the north of the occupied West Bank hit the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Ayyam and al-Quds said that Nabil Ahmad Ghanem, 53, a resident of Nablus, was on his way to his workplace inside Israel when soldiers opened fire killing him instantly near the Israeli segregation barrier, to the south of Qalqilia city. Ghanem’s body was taken by the soldiers, said WAFA correspondent, and is currently withheld at an Israeli hospital in Kefar Saba.

Also in the south of the West Bank, a Palestinian worker was injured by Israeli gunfire and another one sustained fractures after being chased by Israeli occupation soldiers near the town of Tarqoumia, south of Hebron city, as reported in the papers.

The dailies said that 40 days after the killing of prominent Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by Israeli forces in Jenin, a memorial service was held in Ramallah to commemorate her memory under the patronage of President Mahmoud Abbas and in the presence of Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki, and several other Palestinian officials, quoting Shtayyeh demanding that Israel turns over the gun used in the murder of Abu Akleh instead of asking for the bullet in the possession of the Palestinians to be turned over to it.

The papers reported that Shtayyeh said that the absence of accountability will encourage Israel to kill more, stressing that Israel must be held accountable for its crimes.

Al-Quds said that for the third time this month, illegal Israeli settlers set up an outpost on a hilltop belonging to the village of Luban e-Sharqiya, to the south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

Al-Ayyam also said settlers attacked the homes of Palestinians in occupied Hebron.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said 403 new Covid cases were confirmed in the occupied territories in the past week, while al-Ayyam said 14 deaths and almost 5000 new cases were confirmed in Israel in the past 24 hours.
