NRAA and Qatar National Library Forge Partnership to Enhance Archival Cooperation

Doha: The National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) and the Qatar National Library (QNL) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering institutional cooperation in documentation, archives, and scientific research. The agreement seeks to advance the archival and library sectors while ensuring the preservation of documentary heritage. According to Oman News Agency, the MoU was signed by Dr. Hamad Mohammed Al Dhawyani, Chairman of the NRAA, and Huism Tan, Executive Director of the Qatar National Library. The signing ceremony took place at the QNL headquarters in Doha, marking a significant step in enhancing collaboration between the two organizations. The memorandum sets forth strategic objectives that include the exchange of sources and digital content related to heritage and historical collections. It also emphasizes the importance of sharing technical knowledge in document preservation, management, and accessibility. Additionally, the MoU outlines plans for organizing joint events, training programs, and workshops aimed at developing the skills of personnel in both institutions. The agreement also highlights the development of joint initiatives to enhance the role of both organizations in serving knowledge and safeguarding Arab documentary heritage. This collaboration is seen as a crucial step in fortifying partnerships between Arab archival and library institutions. The signing coincided with an Omani delegation's visit to Qatar, which included a meeting with Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Minister of State and President of the Qatar National Library. Discussions focused on strengthening partnerships to preserve national memory and cultural heritage. Al Dhawyani stated that the MoU reflects the NRAA's dedication to expanding cooperation with prominent regional and international cultural institutions. He emphasized that sharing experiences in preservation and digital transformation will boost institutional performance and promote Omani documentary heritage on regional and glo bal platforms.
