Israeli occupation forces clamped down today on international and Jewish activists demonstrating in the town of Huwara, south of Nablus, in solidarity with its residents in the aftermath of last week’s terrorist rampage by Israeli settlers.
The rampage on Sunday night saw Israeli settlers raiding the town, killing one Palestinian and injuring many others and the torching of hundreds of homes and vehicles.
WAFA correspondent said the Israeli occupation army also shut down the nearby Huwara and Za’tara military checkpoints ahead of the Palestinian traffic during the protest, as soldiers physically assaulted some of the protesters and fired teargas at them.
Ghassan Daghlas, a local activist reporting on settler violence, told WAFA that Palestinian vehicles were also denied entry into the town during the protest.
The protest today was held shortly after a European Union delegation visited the town and the nearby village of Za’tara to express solidarity with their Palestinian residents in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks by settlers last week.
