Amman:Oil prices fell today to their lowest levels in more than a week. Brent crude stood at $101.71 per barrel, down $2.16, or 2.08 percent, having closed 0.91 percent lower on Friday. US West Texas Intermediate crude also declined by $2.15, or 2.14 percent, to reach $98.15 per barrel, after falling 1.58 percent in the previous session.
According to Oman News Agency, the recent slide in oil prices can be attributed to increased selling pressure in the market. Analysts are closely monitoring the situation to assess the potential impact on global oil supply and demand dynamics. The decline comes amid a period of heightened volatility in the energy sector, with market participants reacting to various geopolitical and economic factors.
