Al amerat: The preliminary qualifiers of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Qur'an Competition, in its thirty-fourth edition, commenced today in the Wilayat of Al Amerat, Muscat Governorate. The competition is organized by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of the Royal Court and will run for four days at the Waqf Qur'anic School in Al Amerat.
According to Oman News Agency, Yousuf Mohammed Al Balushi, Vice-Chairman of the competition's Preliminary and Final Qualifying Committees, stated that the competition aims to encourage young men and women to memorize the Holy Qur'an, master its recitation, intonation, and accurate and sound reading. It also seeks to cultivate distinguished and proficient reciters of the Holy Qur'an, in addition to instilling spiritual values, developing Qur'anic skills, fostering honourable competition, and enhancing the Sultanate of Oman's presence in international Qur'anic competitions.
He explained that the number of competitors at this station reached 103 male and female contestants from among those who have memorized the Holy Qur'an across the various levels of the competition, out of a total of 2,214 participants across the Sultanate of Oman competing at seven levels.
