Addis ababa: The first session of political talks between the Sultanate of Oman and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia was held today in the Ethiopian capital, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on political consultations between the two nations. The Omani side was headed by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs, while the Ethiopian side was led by Hadera Abera, State Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political and Economic Affairs. According to Oman News Agency, the discussions centered on bilateral relations, with a specific focus on enhancing trade exchange, labor regulation, and increasing maritime and air transport links. The two countries also explored potential investment opportunities in the agriculture and financial services sectors. Additionally, the talks addressed several regional and international issues, emphasizing efforts to resolve them through peaceful means. On the sidelines of the consultations, Sheikh Khalifa met with Gedion Timothewos, Ethiopia's Minister of Foreign Affairs. This meeting concentrated on strengthening cooperation between the two countries and exchanging views on issues of mutual interest. The talks session included the participation of Dr. Afkar Nazim Al Farsi, Head of Oman's Mission to Ethiopia, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Balushi, Head of the Africa Department at the Foreign Ministry, and several officials from both countries.
