Doha: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the State Audit Institution (SAI), participated in the Second Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies from the member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Doha, Qatar. Leading the Omani delegation was Ahmed bin Salim Al Rujabi, SAI Deputy Chairman of Audit of Government Units. According to Oman News Agency, the meeting aimed to enhance the exchange of information and investigations between law enforcement authorities efficiently and rapidly. This initiative is part of efforts to prevent, detect, investigate, and prosecute crimes under the "Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention." The goal is to improve the exchange of technical assistance, training, and expertise among States Parties to increase the effectiveness of information and investigation exchanges concerning these crimes. The participants adopted the agenda and work program, announced the formation of the Bureau, and approved draft resolutions. These included urg ing countries to sign and ratify the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention, preparing a technical and legislative guide for its implementation, establishing an open-ended government expert team, organizing a forum to promote integrity in the tourism sector, and developing methodologies and indicators to measure corruption rates and the effectiveness of anti-corruption frameworks. Several bilateral meetings and workshops were also held on the sidelines of the main meeting. These included a session on "Promoting Cross-Border Corruption Issues through the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE)" and a workshop entitled "The UNDP Global Initiative to Measure Corruption Rates." These sessions aimed to foster expertise exchange and activate cooperation areas among member States. Bilateral meetings between representatives facilitated knowledge sharing and collaboration enhancement.
