Oman Joins GCC Social Affairs Undersecretaries Meeting

Muscat:The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 12th meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Social Affairs and Development Ministries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. This meeting was hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain via video conferencing.

According to Oman News Agency, Oman was represented by Dr. Abdullah Hamoud Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development for Persons with Disabilities Affairs, and Hamoud Mardad Al Shabibi, Adviser to the Minister of Social Development for Planning.

The meeting covered several key topics, including the follow-up on the implementation of decisions from the previous meeting and the action plan for the period 2026-2030. These discussions aimed to enhance joint action and coordination among GCC states in the realm of social affairs.

In addition, the meeting highlighted areas of joint social cooperation such as the development of social protection systems, the enhancement of the non-profit sector, volunteer work, and social responsibility. Discussions also covered family and elderly-related topics, along with updates on Gulf initiatives and programs.

Efforts for coordination and cooperation in regional and international participations related to social affairs were also reviewed during the meeting.
