Tashkent: Represented by the Oman Olympic Committee, the Sultanate of Oman participated in the 46th meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), held in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan. Oman's delegation was led by Abdullah Mohammed Bamkhalif, Secretary-General of the Oman Olympic Committee.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting included the election of Sheikh Joaan Hamad Al Thani as President of the Olympic Council of Asia. He becomes the 22nd head of the Olympic movement in the continent, which has been active since the first Asian multi-sport games in 1913. The elections were attended by representatives from Asian national Olympic committees and Dr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The assembly also approved Qatar as the host of the 47th General Assembly meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia in 2027, with the specific date to be announced later. Additionally, contracts were signed for hosting the Asian Youth Games in Tashkent in 2029 and in Cambodia in 2031.
Preparations for several upcoming games were discussed, including the Asian Beach Games in Sanya city, China, in 2026, the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia, and the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
