Oman Takes Part in Joint GCC-Canada Ministerial Meeting in Manama

Manama: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the joint GCC-Canada ministerial meeting hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in Manama today. The Omani delegation was led by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs and current president of the Ministerial Council. It was attended by GCC foreign ministers, Anita Anand, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the GCC Secretary-General. The ministers discussed ways to strengthen and expand cooperation across economic, scientific, and cultural fields. They focused on exchanging expertise and stimulating growth and innovation opportunities for the mutual benefit of both sides.

The discussions also covered regional and global developments and the resulting challenges and repercussions threatening security and stability. The ministers affirmed the importance of political and peaceful solutions through meaningful dialogue and negotiations aimed at containing and preventing escalation. They emphasized prioritizing the supreme interests of peoples in security, stability, and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Faisal bin Harib Al Busaidi, the Sultanate of Oman's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the GCC and Regional Neighborhood Department at the Foreign Ministry.
