Oman to Participate in Opening Ceremony of Asian Beach Games in China

Sanya: The Sultanate of Oman will participate tomorrow in the opening ceremony of the 6th Asian Beach Games, hosted by the Chinese city of Sanya from April 20 to 30. The Omani national teams will compete in football, volleyball, handball, athletics, and modern pentathlon. According to Oman News Agency, the Omani flag will be carried during the opening ceremony by Mohammed Al Ghailani, a player from the national modern pentathlon team, alongside Aliya Al Mughairi, a player from the national athletics team. The Games will feature 1,790 athletes representing 45 countries, competing across 14 sports and 61 different events. The Asian Beach Games were first held in 2008 in Bali, Indonesia. The second edition was hosted by the Sultanate of Oman in 2010, followed by the third edition in 2012 in Haiyang, China. The fourth edition took place in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2014, and the fifth edition was hosted by Nha Trang, Vietnam, in 2016. After a 10-year hiatus, the Games return this year in 2026 in Sanya, China.
