Oman University Sports Committee Unveils Details of 2026 Competitions Calendar

Oman: Oman University Sports Committee today revealed details of its calendar of sports competitions and events for 2026 during a press conference held at the Olympic Academy headquarters. The calendar includes 21 competitions across 12 sports, with the participation of over 20,000 male and female students from 30 educational institutions across various governorates.

According to Oman News Agency, the committee presented a detailed overview of the events at the outset of the conference. Activities will begin this month with the Padel Championship, attracting a wide segment of students. The calendar continues in February with events like the E-Sports Championship, Beach Volleyball Championship, Girls' Bowling Championship, and the KoraThon event, which runs in partnership with Oman Logistics Academy. The E-Sports Championship has become highly demanded among students.

In March, the 3x3 Basketball Championship will take place, noted for its high turnout and competitive environment. April will feature the Swimming and Athletics Championships and the Girls' Individual Games Tournament, providing an interactive athletic environment aimed at enhancing student participation. Competitions will extend through May and the rest of the year with events such as volleyball, football, basketball, table tennis, shooting, chess, and challenge competitions. The season will conclude in December with the Handball Championship, marking significant development in participation levels.

The committee announced the inclusion of the Shooting Championship in October for the first time in the 2026 calendar, reflecting its aim to diversify individual sports. This championship will be organized with approved technical standards and in cooperation with specialized entities to ensure a safe environment, offering a platform for discovering new talents.

The calendar also includes activities targeting specific groups, such as a sports tournament for girls and programs dedicated to youth skill development. The committee has also included competitions aligned with modern activities popular among youth, including multiple e-sports championships to ensure broader participation.
