Omani Business Forum Discusses Developing Value-Added Industries for Local Products in Salalah

Salalah: The Omani Business Forum for Empowering Light Industries was held today in the Wilayat of Salalah in Dhofar Governorate. Organized by the Salalah Free Zone in cooperation with the Business Forum, the event brought together a number of entrepreneurs, investors, and individuals interested in the industrial sector.

According to Oman News Agency, the forum aimed to develop value-added industries for local products and localize national light industry technology. This will help support local projects that rely on national raw materials and transform them into value-added products capable of competing in local, regional, and global markets.

The forum's program included three working papers. The first addressed the role of the Salalah Free Zone in supporting light and medium industries as a pillar of economic diversification and job creation. The second reviewed the efforts of the Development Bank in empowering light industries through its financing programs. The third paper highlighted Madayn's Raysut Industrial City and the advantages and incentives it offers to investors.

The forum also featured a visual presentation on the infrastructure and investment opportunities in Oman, in addition to a recognition ceremony for a number of light industrial projects and the event's supporting and sponsoring entities.
