Manama: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, held a bilateral meeting with Anita Anand, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs on the sidelines of the third GCC-Canada joint ministerial meeting in Manama today. The discussions focused on furthering bilateral friendship and cooperation, particularly in the areas of economic and scientific partnership, expertise exchange, and the promotion of investment and tourism opportunities.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting also addressed regional situations and prospects for peace by tackling ongoing challenges and the repercussions of violence and escalation. Following the meeting, Sayyid Badr highlighted that Oman and Canada share similar positions on the need for intensified diplomatic efforts. He emphasized the importance of urging all parties to reach practical, fair, and workable understandings to restore normalcy, ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation and maritime passages, as well as the movement of supply chains linked to the economies of regional and global countries.
Sayyid Badr reaffirmed Oman's longstanding policy of supporting good neighborly relations and peaceful coexistence. He also reiterated Oman's commitment to international law and related bilateral and multilateral agreements and covenants.
