Muscat: The Omani-Kazakh Joint Committee today held a meeting during which it discussed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, and investment. The meeting was co-chaired by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs of Oman, and Alibek Kuantyrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to Oman News Agency, the two sides explored cooperation through sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, water resources, and logistics. They also discussed the potential for establishing direct flight routes between Oman and Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, the committee agreed on the importance of exchanging knowledge and expertise in the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence. Cooperation in diplomatic and academic spheres was also a topic of mutual interest.
The meeting saw the participation of Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the Department for the Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Neighborhood at the Foreign Ministry, Aidarbek Tumatov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Sultanate of Oman, along with other officials from both countries.
