The documentary film titled “Al Zeeg”; a concentrated syrup of boiled sugarcane juice, is participating in the twelfth edition of the Arab Film Festival.
The festival is organized by the Korean-Arab Society in South Korea.
“Al Zeeg” documentary is selected among ten films from nine Arab countries, namely: Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Palestine and the Sultanate of Oman.
“Al Zeeg” documentary was shown in the Korean city of “Busan” in the past few days. It will be also shown on 3th and 6th of August in the capital Seoul. This is the first participation of Omani films in this festival, which was launched in 2008.
Salah Al Hadhrami, Director of the documentary “Al Zeeg”, said: “I am happy with this participation in this version of the festival. It is a source of pride for the work team, as there were no previous participations of Omani films in the previous editions of this festival. I congratulate the work crew on this achievement”.
“Al Zeeg” is a long documentary fil produced by the Oman Film Society. The film deals with the Omani man’s connection to the profession of sugarcane cultivation. The process of making sugarcane syrup is mixed between pleasure and difficulties.
The documentary highlights the nutritional and economic value of sugarcane. It also showcases the social impact, and how to accept change and modernization.
The documentary won a number of local and international awards. It was also chosen for display in a number of local and international events to highlight the culture of Omani society.
