On 74th anniversary of Nakba, President Abbas urges international community to abandon policy of double standards

RAMALLAH, President Mahmoud Abbas called today on the international community to break its silence and stop the policy of double standards regarding the situation in Palestine, which had encouraged Israel to continue committing its crimes and denying the Palestinian people their legitimate national rights.

Speaking on the 74th anniversary of the Nakba, the President stressed that national unity is the strongest response to the Nakba and occupation and to the injustice inflicted upon the Palestinian people as a result of the double-standard policy.

The President paid a tribute to the martyrs of the Palestinian people who, with their sacrifices, reinforced the existence of their people and their national cause on the map of the Middle East and the world’s political map.

The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, said that steadfastness on the ground and holding on to it and staying on it, regardless of the difficulties, complications and brutal crimes of the occupation, is the best response to the Nakba, and to the mentality of ethnic cleansing, settlement and Judaization.

Meantime, the President called on Israel’s leaders to stop the denial of the other, as well as the denial of the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, noting that the Israeli government’s failure to recognize the Palestinian people’s rights will not bring security and stability to anyone.
