Pakistan’s Prime Minister reiterates support for independent Palestinian state

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today reiterated his country’s support for the establishment of an independent state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital and an end of the Israeli occupation.

In his message on Al-Quds Day observed annually on the last Friday of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Sharif said, “Every year, on this day, the Muslims strongly condemn the oppression of the [Israeli] forces… Pakistan also joins the voices for justice and condemns the oppression of the Palestinian people.”

The Pakistani prime minister urged the international community to ensure the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions and agreements on the two-state solution.

He pointed out that the enforcement of the United Nations Security Council resolutions against the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine could bring about a durable peace in the region.
