RAMALLAH, Palestine today confirmed 1,461 new Covid-19 cases and 18 death cases, according to Health Minister Mai Alkaila.

She announced that 1,461 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 18 others died of it in the occupied territories.

As part of the 1,461 new cases, 334 cases were registered in the West Bank and 1,127 others in the Gaza Strip.

She identified the death cases as 12 cases from the Gaza Strip and six others from the West Bank.

She added that 2,212 Covid-19 patients recovered; 643 recovery cases in the West Bank and 1,569 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 76 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units and 194 others are currently receiving treatment at hospitals and Covid-19 dispensaries, including 18 who are intubated.

She said that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 92.9 percent and the active cases account for 6.1 percent. The death toll stood at 1 percent of total infections.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 1,402,892 people have been so far vaccinated in the occupied territories; 982,710 people in the West Bank and 4220,182 others in Gaza. A total of 752,412 people received the second dose of the vaccine.
