Palestine confirms 205 new coronavirus cases, five fatalities

RAMALLAH, Palestine today recorded 205 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Alkaila.

She announced that 205 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and five others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 205 cases, 83 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 122 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as two deaths from the West Bank district of Hebron and three others from the besieged Gaza Strip.

She added that 930 Covid-19 patients recovered; 455 recovery cases in the West Bank, and 475 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 59 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 14 who are connected to ventilators, while 116 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.

Recoveries account for 97.3 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 1.6 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 276,464 people have received the vaccine so far; 237,655 vaccinated people in the West Bank and 38,809 others in Gaza. Meanwhile, 196,153 people received the second dose of the vaccine.
