Palestine confirms 2,645 new coronavirus cases, 14 deaths

RAMALLAH, Palestine today confirmed 2,645 new Covid-19 cases and 14 death cases, according to Health Minister Mai Alkaila.

She announced that 2,645 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 14 others died of it in the occupied territories.

As part of the 2,645 new cases, 1,041 cases were registered in the West Bank and 1,604 others in the Gaza Strip.

She identified the death cases as five deaths from the West Bank and nine others from the Gaza Strip.

She added that 1,612 Covid-19 patients recovered; 823 recovery cases in the West Bank and 789 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 67 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units and 160 others are currently receiving treatment at hospitals and Covid-19 dispensaries, including 13 who are intubated.

She said that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 91.1 percent and the active cases account for 7.9 percent. The death toll stood at 1 percent of total infections.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 1,168,458 people have been so far vaccinated in the occupied territories; 825,871 people in the West Bank and 342,587 others in Gaza. A total of 477,125 people received the second dose of the vaccine
