Palestine logs 423 COVID-19 cases, one death

Palestine today confirmed 423 new COVID-19 cases, 127 recoveries and one death, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

One death from COVID-19 was reported in Gaza, while none were reported in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

In the Gaza Strip, 270 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank logged 153 new cases. No update was available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

A total of 4318 COVID-19 tests were carried out during the 24-hour reporting period.

Al-Kaileh pointed that 31 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of whom 12 are in intensive care, including two on ventilators.

She said that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 98.1 percent, while active cases account for 0.8 percent. The death toll stood at 1.1 percent of total infections.

Regarding rollout of the vaccines, al-Kaileh said that 634,600 people have received their first jab of the vaccine in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, of whom 483,000 people received the second dose of the vaccine.
