Palestine receives 150,00 out of four million doses of COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine it has ordered

RAMALLAH, Palestine received today 150,000 doses of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine out of a four million package it has ordered from the US-based pharmaceutical company, according to Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.

She said in a statement that Palestine has contracted the company to provide it with four million doses of the vaccine, explaining that one million doses of Pfizer vaccine have already been delivered to Palestine since the order was put through in May and that the rest will be gradually delivered over several months until the end of the year.

Alkaila said Palestine received so far two million doses of vaccine from various sources, including 1.5 million doses purchased by the Palestinian government.

She also said that 100,000 doses were sent to the besieged Gaza Strip, half of them from the Pfizer company and the rest from the Russian Sputnik. Another batch of 50,000 Sputnik Lite doses will also be sent to Gaza soon to allow as many people to get vaccinated as possible.

Over 100,000 people have been vaccinated in the Gaza Strip compared to over half a million in the West Bank amidst warning of a fourth wave of the corona pandemic about to hit Palestine.
