Palestine records 138 Covid-19 cases, three deaths

Palestine today recorded 138 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

She announced that 138 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and three others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 138 cases, 20 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 118 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as residents of the besieged Gaza Strip.

She added that 146 Covid-19 patients recovered; 22 recovery cases in the West Bank and 124 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that eight Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including two who are connected to ventilators, while 14 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.

Recoveries account for 98 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March 2020 and the active cases for 0.9 percent. The death toll stood at 1.1 percent.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 454,006 people have received the vaccine so far in the West Bank and Gaza, including 283,597 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
