RAMALLAH, Today marks the second anniversary of the death of senior Palestine Liberation Organization official Saeb Erekat, who died in 2020 after contacting Covid-19 at the age of 65.

Erekat was being treated in Hadassah University Hospital Ein Kerem, in Jerusalem, where Palestinian officials described his condition to be critical. His family confirmed his death on Facebook. His death was attributed to complications of COVID-19.

The PLO senior served as chief Palestinian negotiator for decades, who fought passionately for an independent Palestinian state through an agreement with Israel in order to end the occupation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
