Palestinian Authority to close crossing with Jordan on Saturday, the first day of Eid al-Adha

JERICHO,The Palestinian Authority’s General Department of Crossings and Borders announced today that al-Karamah/Allenby/King Hussein Bridge crossing with Jordan will be closed for travelers on Saturday, the first day of Eid Al-Adha.

It said that the crossing will reopen on Sunday morning, urging travelers not to arrive at the crossing in the early morning hours to avoid the travel rush.

The closure of the crossing by the Palestinian Authority (PA), however, does not affect travelers from occupied East Jerusalem, who do not carry the Palestinian passport but rather Israeli-issued travel document, or holders of foreign passports who will be able to cross on Saturday as usual since only the PA-controlled terminal will be closed, but not the Israeli-controlled.

The crossing is the only exit route for the three million Palestinians living in the occupied West Bank who, unlike fellow Palestinians from occupied East Jerusalem, which has been illegally annexed by Israel following its occupation in 1967, are not allowed to travel through the Israeli airport.
