RAMALLAH, Israeli occupation forces today detained a 43-year-old Palestinian man at al-Jeep Israeli army checkpoint, northwest of Jerusalem, after allegedly brandishing a knife, and seven others were detained in raids at their homes and in other locations, according to various sources.
Sources said soldiers at al-Jeep checkpoint saw a man approaching them with a knife in his hand and then apprehended him after he threw it to the ground. The man was identified as a resident of the nearby village of al-Judeira.
Israeli forces also detained a Palestinian man from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Isawiyya during a raid at his family home.
They also detained a Palestinian after ransacking his house in Beit Sira village, west of Ramallah.
The soldiers also forced their way into al-Bireh city neighborhood of Jabal Tawil where they broke into and searched several residential buildings.
During the ensuing confrontations, the soldiers opened fire towards dozens of local youths who hurled stones and empty bottles at them. No injuries were reported though.
In the northern West Bank, two residents of Jenin refugee camp were detained while they were in Israel.
Israeli military also stormed Rafat town, west of the northern West Bank district of Salfit, where soldiers detained a former prisoner.
In the southern West Bank district of Hebron, the sources said a military raid in Idna town, west of Hebron city, resulted in the detention of one man.
Israeli troops also detained another at Yatta town, south of Hebron.
