Palestinian woman sentenced to 18 months in Israeli jails

JENIN, Female Palestinian detainee Muna Qa’dan, 51, was sentenced today to 18 months in Israeli jails and a fine of 7,000 shekels ($2,000), the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said in a statement.

Qa’dan, from the town of Arraba in the north of the West Bank, has been in prison without trial since 10 April 2021. She has been arrested by the Israeli occupation several times, and has served a total of 8 years behind Israeli prison bars.

There are 31 Palestinian women imprisoned by the Israeli occupation authorities, including 10 mothers, according to prisoner advocacy groups.

There are also more than 4,400 Palestinian political prisoners currently held in Israeli jails, according to the Addameer prisoner rights group.
