Palestinians confront heavily armed Israeli soldiers who came to arrest an activist in a West Bank village

NABLUS, Hundreds of Palestinian civilians today confronted heavily armed Israeli soldiers who raided the village of Salem, east of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, in order to arrest an activist.

Salem head of village council, Adli Shtayyeh, told WAFA that a large unit of soldiers raided the village and deployed in its center where the soldiers surrounded a house before breaking into it and arresting its occupant.

He said the residents confronted the soldiers, pelting them with stones and bottles, while the soldiers fired dozens of tear gas canisters at the residents causing many suffocation cases before leaving the town.
