RAMALLAH, Palestinians rallied today in Ramallah to reject and protest this morning’s Israeli army raid of seven Palestinian human rights and civil society organizations in Ramallah and forcing them to shut down.
The Department of Human Rights and Civil Society in the Palestine Liberation Organization organized the rally with the participation of the seven organizations.
The Director-General of Al-Haq, Shawan Jabarin, said that the closure decision proves that the occupying power is a racist country and that there is no fair judicial system in it, stressing that the decision is a political one and they challenge Israel to prove its allegations, which it cannot do.
“With its actions, Israel is trying to force the international community to accept its narratives. It is also a message it is trying to pass on to the Israeli street to elect it at the expense of blood and incitement against the Palestinians,” he said.
“We are here, not by a decision from (Israeli Defense Minister Benny) Gantz and we are not acting with his permission, but under Palestinian law and our firm conviction to defend human rights, the rule of law and justice for our people, which cannot be achieved without the right to self-determination, and the return of refugees to their homes and lands,” added Jabarin.
He stressed that the Israeli decisions do not mean anything to them as they will continue to do their work because they derive their legitimacy from their victims and their people and as they exist according to Palestinian law.
He pointed out that these institutions do not sell political terms, but rather defend the law and human rights, adding that the closed institutions will continue their work and will continue to provide their services, and will not tire in demanding an end to the policy of impunity, as impunity encourages the occupying state to continue to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity, and will continue to cooperate with the International Criminal Court until the officers and soldiers of the occupation are tried for their crimes against the Palestinian people.

The head of the Independent Commission for Human Rights, Ammar Dweik, said this war has been open for years, and these institutions are not the first and will not be the last, pointing out that the occupation’s decision to close the institutions is a declaration of bankruptcy for the occupying country in presenting any evidence against these institutions.
