Palestinians organize a convoy of vehicles to protest Israeli police’s indifference to criminality in Arab towns

RAMALLAH, Hundreds of Palestinians took part today in a convoy of vehicles in the town of Kafr Qara in Israel and drove south to the town of Baqa al-Gharbiyye in protest of Israeli police’s indifference to criminality within the Palestinian community in their Arab towns.

The protesters waved banners that read, ‘Enough to criminality and violence’, ‘Israeli authorities are responsible’, ‘enough’ and ‘yes to obliterating the abhorrent Israeli occupation.’

The convoy was attended by Arab politicians and left-wing Israeli activists, as well as family members of Palestinian-Israelis killed in recent crimes in the Arab communities in Israel, for which the participants blame the Israeli police for their failure to bring perpetrators to justice and their suspicious collaboration with criminal gangs.

The Palestinians in Israel, who stayed in their homes and lands following the creation of Israel in 1948 and their descendants and who make up about 20 percent of the country’s nine million people, feel they are discriminated against in every aspect of their life.

Palestinians have long blamed the Israeli police for turning a blind eye to gun violence in their communities and even complicity with criminal gangs.
