RAMALLAH, The increase in the prices of fresh vegetables and eggs is the main reason for the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) during January 2022, according to a statement issued by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) on Monday.
The overall CPI for Palestine during January 2022 recorded an increase by 0.68% compared with December 2021 (1.00% in Jerusalem J1, 0.73% in the West Bank, and 0.33% in Gaza Strip).
The changes in Palestinian CPI for January 2022 were traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with previous month:
The Palestinian CPI during January 2022 increased by 2.68% compared with January 2021 (3.78% in Jerusalem J1, 2.68% in the West Bank, and 2.01% in Gaza Strip).
