PLO Executive Committee warns of consequences of Israel’s decision allowing Jews to pray at al-Aqsa mosque

RAMALLAH, The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) warned in a statement the Israeli authorities of the consequences of its decision to grant Jews the right to perform prayers at the courtyards of the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

It slammed this Israeli decision as a flagrant violation of Islamic sanctities, particularly al-Aqsa mosque, which is a pure Muslim place of worship.

The committee stressed that the occupying power’s persistence in violations against al-Aqsa mosque and Muslim and Christian holy sites in defiance of all peoples is a prelude to turning the current conflict into a religious conflict.

“The degree to which Israel thinks it is above the law and the reluctance of the members of the international community to implement the United Nations resolutions on the Palestinian issue has consequently made the extremist Jewish forces, the settlers, and their right-wing government persist in implementing its colonial expansionist projects, thus denying the Palestinian people of their inalienable national rights and their right to self-determination, ending the occupation and establishing their independent and sovereign state,” said the PLO.
