PLO Secretary-General, Jordan’s FM discuss joint actions to stop Israel’s escalation policy

Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Executive Committee, Hussein Al-Sheikh, affirmed the continuation of joint action at all levels to stop the dangerous escalation policy of the Israeli government and extremist settlers.

This came during a joint press conference held in Ramallah following a meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas, where Safadi conveyed a message from King Abdullah II to the president regarding the joint actions carried out to support the Palestinian people in obtaining their full legitimate rights.

Safadi stressed the need to put an end to the Israeli measures and to immediately find a real political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.

He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities, stating that the international law and resolutions are clear and affirm that Jerusalem is an occupied territory and must be liberated as the capital of the independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, in order for peace to be achieved.

For his part, the PLO official affirmed that after this meeting intensive contact will be initiated with all concerned parties at the regional and international levels, to pressure the Israeli government and force it to stop the escalation policy, because “the upcoming portends a great danger.”
