PM Shtayyeh calls for forming int’l front to end occupation, protect two-state solution

RAMALLAH, Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh stressed today the importance of an international front to pressure Israel to end its occupation and protect the two-state solution.

During a meeting in Ramallah with Maya Tissafi, Assistant State Secretary of the Swiss foreign ministry and head of the Middle East and North Africa Department, Shtayyeh called on Switzerland to recognize the state of Palestine.

The prime minister also called on Switzerland and the international community to pressure Israel to abide by and respect the signed agreements, in addition to stopping all its measures and violations in the Palestinian territories, as well as providing international protection for the Palestinian people.

He noted that there is a dangerous political vacuum, in addition to the deterioration of the situation on the ground, which increases the cycle of violence, stressing rejection of the current status quo.

Shtayyeh and Tesafi also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, highlighting the importance of joint coordination for supporting Palestine according to government priorities, which contributes to creating job opportunities and economic development.
