President Abbas chairs meeting of security forces in Ramallah

President Mahmoud Abbas chaired today a meeting of the Palestinian security forces that discussed the latest political and security developments in the aftermath of the recent Israeli escalation of violence.

“The Israeli occupation’s government bears full responsibility [for the escalation] because it violates the resolutions of international legitimacy and takes unilateral measures that violate the signed agreements and all international references and laws,” said President Abbas during the meeting.

The President stressed the importance of the measures and decisions taken by the Palestinian leadership, including ending security coordination with Israel and seeking action at international forums and courts to protect the rights and national interests of our people.

He underscored the importance of peaceful popular resistance and preserving the home security of our people. “This is a responsibility that must be borne by all governmental and security institutions, governors, national forces, and civil society institutions”.

During the meeting, the President asked the security services to continue to safeguard the rule of law, public security and civil peace.
