RAMALLAH, President Mahmoud Abbas offered today his congratulations to his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad after being re-elected as President of Syria for a fourth term.

In a cable sent to al-Assad, President Abbas underscored the mutual relations between the two nations, saying he was looking forward to keep these relations at their best in order to achieve the highest interests of the two peoples.
