RAMALLAH, President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas today congratulated Georgia Meloni for assigning her the position of Prime Minister of Italy, and for forming the new government.

In his congratulatory cable, the President said: “we are pleased to extend to your country, our warmest congratulations, for assigning you the position of Prime Minister of Italy, and for forming the new government, wishing you success in performing the lofty tasks entrusted to you, and achieving the goals and aspirations that you and the Italian people aspire to.”

“We express our pride in the relations of friendship and mutual respect that unite our peoples and countries,” the President said. “We are keen to work with you towards developing them for the benefit of our two countries, appreciating the positions of the Republic of Italy in support of the causes of justice, truth and peace, and the just cause of our people who have struggled for decades to recover their land and obtain their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.”

President Abbas wished the Italian Prime Minister health and happiness, and the government and people of Italy further progress and prosperity.
