President Abbas discusses dangerous escalations in Palestine with Dutch prime minister

RAMALLAH, President Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call from the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, during which they discussed the dangerous escalations across the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

President Abbas briefed the Dutch PM on the dangerous escalations in occupied Jerusalem and the ongoing Israeli attacks against Palestinian worshipers at al-Aqsa mosque, as well as on the Israeli brutal aggression against Palestinian civilians in the besieged Gaza strip, for which “Israel bears full responsibility”, and which he stressed must stop immediately.

President Abbas stressed the need for the Netherlands and the European Union to act to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, starting with a political solution that ends the occupation in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy, creates hope, and embodies the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital as a real way out to end the cycle of violence and tension in the region.

President Abbas thanked the Netherlands for the aid it provides to the Palestinian people, in addition to the European political support for the Palestinian cause in accordance with international law.

For his part, The Dutch PM affirmed his country’s position calling for a stop to escalation and achieving calm, and to spare civilians the scourge of the conflict, stressing the Netherlands’ support to achieve peace in accordance with the decisions of the European Union and international law.
