President Abbas meets his Egyptian counterpart in Cairo

CAIRO, President Mahmoud Abbas today met his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi at the presidential palace in Cairo.

During the meeting, President Abbas briefed al-Sisi on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena and the region, with particular focus on the persistent Israeli violations and efforts to revitalize the long-stalled peace process.

They exchanged views on different regional issues and discussed the means to further develop bilateral relations in various fields.

The meeting was held within the framework of bilateral coordination between them so as to address the challenges ahead with regard to the efforts to promote the realization of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the right to establish their independent and fully sovereign state on the territories that have been occupied since June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
