Presidential spokesman warns Israel any change at Al-Aqsa Mosque and annexation is a declaration of war

RAMALLAH, The official spokesman for the presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, today warned Israel that repeated threats to change the historical status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem by demanding permission to perform Jewish prayers and rituals in the Mosque, to build a synagogue in its courtyards, and claiming “equal right” for all religions in Al-Aqsa, in addition to the escalation in settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories and the daily killings, the latest of which was the killing of two young men in the town of Kufr Dan, is a declaration of war with serious consequences for everyone.

He said that all these complex issues lead to a new tense and turbulent phase, which will undoubtedly be different historically, stressing that Jerusalem will always remain the key to security, peace and stability in this already volatile region.

Abu Rudeineh said that the real test for the US administration is its position on the current extremist policy and practices of the Israeli government, and its position on implementing the United Nations resolutions, most notably Resolution 2334, statements of President Joe Biden and his Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who said that the United States is committed to the two-state solution and that they stand by their commitment for equal measures of freedom, justice, security and prosperity for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

He stressed that it is time to turn these words into deeds before it is too late, warning that such dangerous Israeli policies, if they are not stopped with serious American pressure, will lead the situation to get out of control.
