Prime Minister says he was shocked by reports that Israeli army dogs assailed a detainee

RAMALLAH, Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said today that he was shocked at the way 19-year-old Malik Maalla, from al-Bireh city, adjacent to Ramallah, was detained last week during which Israeli soldiers released a wild dog to devour him before he was arrested.

In a statement issued by his office, the Prime Minister called on the United Nations and all international human rights organizations to condemn the practices of the occupation forces against the young Palestinian prisoners and detainees.

The Commission for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs said it had monitored “painful and cruel” details of the arrest of Maalla, noting that last Monday a large army force stormed an industrial facility in al-Bireh where Maalla works as a night watchman. The soldiers released their dog at him and started to bite him without stopping. Maalla was then taken to an unknown destination, and until now his family does not have any information about him.
