Prime Minister Shtayyeh discusses promoting political and economic relations with Singaporean president

SINGAPORE, Prime Minister, Mohammed Shtayyeh, met today with the Singaporean president, Halimah Yacob, at the presidential Castle in the capital city of Singapore, where they discussed promoting political and economic relations between the two countries.

 

Shtayyeh conveyed greetings from President Mahmoud Abbas, his leadership, and the Palestinian people to the Singaporean government, leadership, and people, expressing his happiness to visit Singapore, a country with which Palestine enjoys relations of friendship and cooperation, praising the successful Singaporean experience in building a modern and developed country despite the challenges it faced at different stages.

 

Shtayyeh briefed the Singaporean president on the political situation and the difficult developments on the ground facing the Palestinian people as a result of the ongoing escalated Israeli violations, the continued destruction of the two-state solution, the increased pace of settlement construction and land theft, extrajudicial killings, detentions, and tightening the noose around the Palestinian people and isolating them in Gaza, Jerusalem, and various other areas.

 

Shtayyeh affirmed that protecting the two-state solution requires recognizing the state of Palestine and exerting pressure on Israel to end its occupation.

 

For her part, the Singaporean president affirmed her country’s clear position regarding the two-state solution and its respect for international law and UN resolutions, stressing Singapore’s continued support and cooperation to assist Palestine in the fields and priorities it needs.
