Riyadh: The Runner Fataik bin Abdulghafoor Bait Ja'aboob won the Bronze Medal in the High Jump competition, adding a new medal to the Omani participation tally at the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh. According to Oman News Agency, Ja'aboob's coronation followed strong competitions involving a number of athletes from Asian and Islamic teams. The national team athlete managed to achieve successful attempts, enabling him to secure the third place, continuing the ascending performance level he has shown in recent regional championships. Meanwhile, runner Ali Al Balushi continued to register positive results in his participation in the Games, qualifying for the final of the 200-meter race after finishing first in his group with a time of 20.88 seconds. This time confirms his technical readiness after he previously won the gold medal in the 100-meter race. In Fencing, national team athlete Israa Al Siyabi qualified for the semifinals in the Women's Individual Foil competition. Meanwhile, athlete Ghazal Al Filiti exited the qualifications in the same competition, and athlete Jana Al Sharji exited the Épée competition in the quarterfinals, despite her strong start in the previous round where she overcame her compatriot Salma Al Dughaishi with a score of 15-6, before losing to the Uzbek athlete Sitora Rakhimova with a score of 15-9. The participation of the national team athletes will continue in the remaining competitions of the Games over the coming days, amidst aspirations to register positive results that enhance the presence of Omani sports in international forums.
