SalamAir Launches First Flights to Abha, Saudi Arabia

Muscat: SalamAir, the economic carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, today launched its direct flights to Abha City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This step enhances air connectivity between the two countries and supports reciprocal tourist movement between the Sultanate of Oman and the Asir region, as part of the airline's continuous expansion of its regional network. According to Oman News Agency, this was announced during a ceremony held by the company at Muscat International Airport in the presence of Ibrahim Saad Ibrahim bin Beeshan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Sultanate of Oman, alongside a number of officials and partners from the Civil Aviation Authority. Abha serves as the gateway to the Asir region, one of the most prominent heritage tourist destinations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, distinguished by its natural diversity and rich culture. This direct route is expected to boost tourist movement between the Sultanate of Oman and the Asir region, particularly during the moderate seasons and for various tourism events. SalamAir will operate Muscat-Abha flights at a rate of four flights per week, offering travelers flexible options and convenient schedules. This also provides seamless connectivity with SalamAir's expanding network to key destinations in India, Gulf countries, and Salalah, supporting direct travel and transit movement through the airline's main hub in Muscat. With the addition of Abha as SalamAir's fifth destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, alongside the assumption of Beirut flights this December, and the continuous expansion of its fleet of Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft, SalamAir reinforces its position as an active partner in supporting the development of the tourism and logistics sectors in the Sultanate of Oman and enhancing regional connectivity. This aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 aimed at economic diversification and expanding air transport options while improving its efficiency.
