Settlers assault a Palestinian man near Bethlehem

A Palestinian man was assaulted today by a group of extremist Israeli settlers near the village of Husan, to the west of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Mohammad Sabatin, the mayor of the village, told WAFA that his brother, Awad, 50, was brutally assaulted by a group of Israeli settlers while he was present in his own land, located near the illegal settlement of Bitar Elit.

The attack came less than a day after another resident, Nasser Mahmoud Sabatin, sustained cuts and bruises after a group of Israeli settlers savagely assaulted him and beat him up while present in his own land, located near the same area where today’s assault took place.

Israeli settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.

There are over 650,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law and consensus.
