Settlers assault, injure two shepherds east of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, Two Palestinian shepherds were hurt today after being assaulted by Israeli settlers near the village of Al-Mughayir, to the northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Witnesses told WAFA that Israeli settlers assaulted Anan Abu-Alia and Shaker Abu-Alia while they were grazing their sheep, causing them bruises and cuts. The two were moved to hospital for medical treatment.

Violence and vandalism by Israeli settlers is commonplace in the occupied West Bank, and is never prosecuted by the occupation authorities.

More than 600,000 Jewish settlers currently live in more than 250 illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. According to international law, the West Bank and East Jerusalem are occupied Palestinian territories and all Jewish settlements built there and the settlers who live in them are illegal.
